Synopsis
Seen as the stylistic spiritual grandfather of underground and alternative comics, cartoonist Basil Wolverton became a legend in the 1940s and 50s for his illustrations and caricatures which appeared in such publications as LIFE, PAGEANT and MAD magazine. Less well known was his involvement in the Worldwide Church of God, by whom he was employed to create this illustrated narrative of the Old Testament, including 550 illustrations, as well as dozens of cartoons and humorous drawings for various Worldwide Church publications. Many of these are regarded as his finest work.
